For Teachers

LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!  We are interested to hear from teachers, particularly with the following experience:

  • Teaching Assistants (all ages)
  • Montessori 3-6 teachers
  • Montessori 6-12 teachers
  • KS1 & KS2 teachers
  • Montessori 12-18 teachers
  • KS3 & KS4 teachers, particularly if you have experience with the IB or are willing to work within its framework
  • KS5 teachers, particularly if you have experience with the IB or are willing to work within its framework
If you are a qualified teacher and do not fall into these categories, we would still like to hear from you.

Here are what some teachers have said in answer to our question on our website "What would attract you to teaching in a Free School?":

"Teaching in a school which has supportive parents who take responsibility for their child's behaviour. Also would like to teach in a school which allows me to innovate and not constrained."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Curriculum, freedom, desire to make a difference, holistic view of children."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"It would be an advantage to staff, parents and students to have a voice in which way the schools development and curriculum are delivered and that the IB is a diverse way to encourage the students to gain success."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Having an independent curriculum of the National curriculum and creating a curriculum that matches where the children are at, and not forcing them to be at level....... when they are nowhere near that level of readiness! I also strongly believe in hand-on concrete learning. Too much is expected of little ones in terms of understanding concepts that are solely presented in abstract ways."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The ability to teach from the children as opposed to the way curriculums are dictated by people that have no idea who and what children are about!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"To be able to give an education to young people that is tailored to each and every individual."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The knowledge that the education of the children would be driven not only by an ethos and curriculum formed through open discussion but also by the implementation of a stable moral, social and emotional framework."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I like the morals that parents have a greater say in their children's education and the school has the overall say of their budget. I think it is a great idea."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Increased flexibility over the curriculum giving the school more ability to be creative with its teaching and learning styles."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"New opportunities for progression and helping pupils learn without constraints."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The chance to work with a smaller number of children and therefore much more 1:1 time."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I think a free school would have the potential to attract a range of families and would benefit from increased diversity."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The opportunity to work with a wide range of pupils - to offer an 'alternative' to the tightly controlled National Curriculum which does not suit every child. The opportunity to really cater for individual needs and also be involved in an exciting new venture."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I like the concept of independent school experience for state funded students."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Better alternative to the state education in UK - limited unless going private (expensive!) I have a young daughter who is nearing school age and wish to see her have a solid education (considering home school at the moment)."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The freedom to teach excellent lessons in a small environment without all the red tape!"
